Morgan Motor Company Donates All-New Plus Four To Comic Relief And BBC Children In Need’s ‘The Big Night In’ Appeal To Raise Funds For Coronavirus Relief

The Morgan Motor Company is supporting the coronavirus relief effort with the donation of an example of its all-new Plus Four to the BBC’s The Big Night In. The car featured as the final prize in the appeal, which aired at 7pm on Thursday 23 April. The prize draw was open to anyone aged 18 or over, and ran until 2pm on 30 April, by which time a total figure of funds raised will be considerable. On the night of the appeal a total of twenty seven million pounds were raised, of which the Morgan Raffle contributions were said to be an “eye watering” amount.

‘The Big Night In’ appeal saw the BBC’s biggest charitable partners, Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need, join forces for the very first time with a live star-studded show, mainly online from their own homes, to help raise funds and celebrate acts of kindness. The show aimed to unite the nation with an evening of incredible entertainment and stories of those going the extra mile to support their communities in these troubled times.

The money raised through the Morgan Plus Four prize (worth £62,995 before options) will be split between Comic Relief and Children in Need and will go on to support a variety of charities and projects in the UK, so they can continue to provide vital emergency support to those affected by the current crisis. This includes making sure people are safe from harm, mentally healthy and with access to food, warmth and shelter; as well as helping people stay connected, active and positive through these extraordinary times.

The lucky winner of the Plus Four will also have the opportunity to choose the exact specification of the car alongside Morgan’s designers. As with any Morgan, the possibilities are almost limitless. The winner, as well as their selected friends and family, will also be invited to visit the factory in Malvern, for a private tour to see exactly how a Morgan is handcrafted by its skilled craftsmen and women once current social distancing restrictions are lifted. In addition, Morgan will pay towards the winner’s first year of tax and insurance on the car, along with servicing for two years, allowing them to enjoy to car without any further costs, except fuel.

The Plus Four was chosen by Morgan as the perfect model to donate as a prize for this appeal. Not only is it the company’s newest model, but also one of its most engaging to drive and historically significant.

Steve Morris, Chairman and CEO of Morgan Motor Company, said: “We are all aware of the devastating impact the current situation is having around the world, at every level of society. On behalf of the Morgan Motor Company, I am particularly thankful to all of the key workers around the world who continue to keep our communities going. I’m proud that we are able to support the global relief effort, as part of BBC’s “The Big Night In”, with the donation of a brand new Morgan Plus Four. Any Morgan sports car is unique and desirable, and we hope that by offering a new Plus Four as a prize, we will be able to raise significantly more funds towards the global relief effort, than the value of the car itself.”

Le Mans Classic Postponed In 2020

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Peter Auto and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest have decided to postpone the tenth edition of Le Mans Classic to July 1-2-3-4, 2021. After having carefully studied different scenarios and possible dates, it was finally decided that postponing Le Mans Classic for a whole year to 2021 was the best solution for this event in order to avoid any doubt or confusion.

Quentin English informs MOG that all the hotels that were booked for the VinMog group have agreed to transfer the reservation to the new dates – namely 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th of July. All members of the group have been advised and all replies received so far have been highly positive and supportive. For more information please contact Quentin at travel@vinmog.fr

Special Edition Cars Celebrate 60th Anniversary of Dutch Dealer

The Morgan Motor Company continues to push the boundaries of creative possibilities and prove its ability to turn imagination into reality, with the launch of three limited-edition specifications. The LE60 range of cars celebrates six decades of Morgan’s partnership with its retailer in the Netherlands, Louwman Exclusive. Just five cars have been created: two Plus Six models in Ice Blue, a further pair in Scintilla Silver, and a single Almond Green 3 Wheeler.

Characterised by a classic yet purposeful look, the Ice Blue LE60 Plus Six features 19-inch alloy wheels, evoking the look of a wire wheel but with a contemporary twist. Yellow accents can be spotted around the car, such as its brake callipers, spot light casings, and LE60 decals on its bonnet side vents. Inside, it gains black pebble-texture leather with yellow diamond seat stitching and LE60 headrest embroidery, and a matte tawny wood dashboard and tunnel top trim, while an interior motif reaffirms the model’s significance.

Resplendent in metallic Scintilla Silver, the second Plus Six LE60 specification sits purposefully on 18-inch black Speedster wheels, under which yellow brake callipers can also be found. The colourway extends throughout the car, with a yellow number 6 painted within the grille, yellow horizontal seat stitching and matching LE60 headrest embroidery. A yellow band runs around the trailing edge of the bonnet, reminiscent of traditional Morgan bonnet strap. The interior of this LE60 is distinguished by a dashboard and a tunnel top in body colour.

Just one LE60 Morgan 3 Wheeler has been built, in Almond Green, and in keeping with the Plus Six variants a yellow theme can be seen throughout the car. Special attention has been paid to the leather dashboard panel, which features a laser-engraved design.
